Blue Tits in Emersons Green, Bristol

28th April - 3rd May 2005

3rd May 2005

The female is as hungry as ever and the male continues to do his duty by feeding her. She has been laying one egg a day from the start. Eight days have passed and there appear to be seven eggs. I am expecting egg number eight to arrive sometime this evening. It is not always possible to see the eggs as the female will often cover them up. I am not sure if she is deliberately hiding them from view or just trying to keep them warm.

Three eggs this morning.

28th April 2005

Now we definitely have two eggs. One of them was certainly laid this evening at around 7:40pm. I cannot say about the other one. I am still not sure if an egg arrived earlier on the 26th or not. Maybe two were laid this evening. I wonder if anyone can email me if they have had similar experiences. I have included a pic of the nest at 1:20pm for comparison (no sign of egg number 1).
I will not be able to update my diary pages for a few days as I shall be away on holliday. I wonder how many eggs there will be when I return?
