Blue Tits in Emersons Green

Box and Camera

The design of the box is fairly standard, with the difference that electronics are housed in a panel just beneeth the lid. These included a high resolution CCD board camera, a microphone and infra red LED's. The LED's enable the camera to see in completely darkness, albeit in black and white.

The camera was purchased online from Henry's. It is model no 3232L.

For the moment I have disconnected the Infra Red LED's. I found that in normal daylight they interfered with the cameras ability to produce a good colour image. To me it looked a little too black and white. Ideally I would like to fit a Dawn to Dusk module so that the LED's only come on when the natural daylight is very low.
I have missed the oportunity to fit this device this year, as the birds have already started to lay eggs and I do not want to disturb them.
I have included a recent pick showing how this camera performs at night with an infra red light source for those of you who might be curious. The light was manually shone throught the bird box entrance hole.
